THE HISTORY OF MORCELLIANA
Founded in Brescia in 1925 by a team of young catholics – Fausto Minelli, Alessandro Capretti, Mario Bendiscioli, Giulio Bevilacqua, Gian Battista Montini (the future Pope Paul VI) – the publishing house "Morcelliana" since its origins resolved to promote a christian inspired culture, related to the most brilliant tendencies of modern doctrine, in an international context.
As time passed, this effort turned into a real editorial ideology, showing a special attention in biblical studies, ancient christian literature, spirituality, theology, philosophy, religion sciences and history.
So were created the topics of interest of the new Morcelliana catalogue: the "Philosophy" series includes great writers as Enrico Berti, Bruno Forte, Aldo Magris, Xavier Tilliette, Paul Ricoeur, Salvatore Natoli, "the Red Pelican" collection is directed by Paolo De Benedetti while the "Religion Science and History" series is edited by Giovanni Filoramo. Giacomo Canobbio is the director of "Novecento Teologico" and recently opened the section "Supplements". "Ancient Christian Literature" is edited by Claudio Moreschini and Enrico Norelli and the "History" series deals with modern and contemporary age.
The publishing house Morcelliana inaugurated in 2004 its brand new collection "Opera Omnia", including the whole production of Romano Guardini. The collection is planned in 27 volumes, each concerning a thematic subject. The first book of "Opera Omnia", published in 2004 and edited by Michele Nicoletti, deals with political writings and the second issue of the collection, "Socrate e Platone" (2005) is edited by Omar Brino and includes an introduction of Enrico Berti.
